Lake District 7 Peaks

Lake District 7 Peaks

Saturday 28th September 2024
Registration: £10 – £40
Sponsorship: £230 – £300

Take on 7 of the Lake District’s toughest peaks. You will trek to the summit of Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak, fully supported throughout along this magnificent route in the heart of the Lakes.

This challenge runs over one day, but with seven peaks to tackle it’s certainly no walk in the park! Prepare for an exhausting but energising journey through the rugged and dramatic landscape of the Lake District, as you venture across 15 miles and tackle seven of England’s most demanding peaks, including its highest – Scafell Pike. The group will climb to over 3,000 feet (900m), crossing crags and moorland past the Langdale Pikes towards Scafell Pike before returning over our final two summits of the day.

OUR ROUTE:

From the Old Dungeon Ghyll we head north-west across the moorland towards the first peaks of the day: Rossett Pike. After a short stop to catch our breath, the next challenge beckons, Allen Crags. From its stony summit the view stretches across the Scafells and Derwent Water.

Two peaks down and with the toughest yet to come we  grit our teeth and push to our next summit, Great End. With no time for rest we push onto our fourth summit, Ill Crag before eyeing up the highest summit in England, the craggy peak of Scafell itself.

Our return route takes us over the iconic peaks of Esk Pike and Bow Fell before descending back down into the Langdale valley in time to celebrate our achievement.

DIFFICULTY:

The Lakes 7 Peaks challenge is graded as tough. This is the perfect challenge for participants who are of an adventurous spirit and an open mind and who wish to push themselves in a wild and remote region of one of the UK’s most iconic landscapes. On the Lakes 7 Peaks Challenge you will be:

•    Trekking for around 11 hours in a single day.

•    Covering 15 miles of mountainous terrain.

•    Trekking without support, carrying all your food and water for the entire day.

•    Ascend more 1500m in a single day. That’s more ascent than Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain!

•    Summiting 7 of the highest hills in the Lake District, Scafell Pike (978m) Great End (910m) Ill Crag (935m) Allen Crags (785m) Rossett Pike (651m) Esk Pike (885m) and Bow Fell (902m)

This event requires a good level of fitness, as such we would recommend regular exercise and walks to ensure you get the most out of this challenge.
